Choose a typeface with multiple variations if you have it on your computer or use variable fonts in InDesign.
How to use variable fonts in InDesign
1. On page #2, create 4 rows with a 1pt black line between each:
- With the line tool, hold Shift and draw a horizontal line (1pt) close to the bottom margin that will be wide enough for 4 columns of text.
- Select it, go to Object>Transform>Move and enter – (minus) 1.85 in. into the Vertical option.
- Click Copy (not OK). A copy of the line will appear 1.84 inches above the first line.
-Without deselecting the second line, go to Object>Transform Again>Transform Again. A third line will appear above the second one.
- Repeat: without deselecting the third line, go to Object>Transform Again>Transform Again. A fourth line will appear above the third one.
2. In the first column, vertically aligned in the center of the row, write the words SIZE, WEIGHT, WIDTH, and SLOPE - one word per row.
3. Using any letter, demonstrate what each variation looks like: change size in the first row, weight in the second row, width in the third row and slope (regular and italic) in the fourth row. Distribute the letters horizontally so there is an even amount of space between columns.
4. Add the variation info below each letter in a small font size
